The Vault Hotel began with a simple idea:
A Bank with a New Account.
What if a building designed to protect the fortunes of Houghton’s past could become a place where people come to make memories today?
Built as Houghton National Bank, the historic building was once part of a town fueled by copper mining, Great Lakes shipping, and the fortunes that followed. Its massive vaults were designed to safeguard gold, cash, and other valuables.
Today, the building safeguards something different. Experiences.
The Vault Hotel brings new life to one of downtown Houghton’s most distinctive historic buildings while preserving the architectural character that made it special in the first place.
Original details meet modern design. Historic spaces become guest rooms. A former bank basement becomes The Counting Room.
The result is a boutique hotel that doesn’t ask you to choose between history and modern hospitality.
